Get TABC Certified so this won’t happen

When you get TABC certified, you’ll probably hear stories about bad things happening. Car accidents. People getting arrested. People dying and getting hurt. Property damage. These stories are not meant to stoke fear, but to remind everyone of their responsibilities when it comes to selling and serving alcohol.

One of those stories happened here in North Texas back in March. A young guy, just 25 years old, crashed his car into a house and was killed. The preliminary investigation shows he slammed into a tree first, and then hit the house. Investigators also learned he had been drinking at a local bar before the crash. The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) is investigating whether he was over-served.

Stories like this serve as a reminder of how serious our responsibility is to not over-serve our customers. Yes, cutting someone off can be difficult. But it’s not nearly as difficult as learning one of your customers hurt himself and/or someone else. Let’s all do our part to keep alcohol out of the hands of minors and intoxicated people.
