Some awesome news for you seller-servers at The University of Texas at Austin: Get your on-site or online TABC certification and put some money in your pocket!

UT Austin announced their plans in late February to start selling alcohol at some sporting events, specifically aiming to sell beer and wine at basketball, baseball, and football games. Alcohol has already been sold at the Frank Erwin Center, where UT basketball games are played, during entertainment events that are not UT-sponsored.

As usual, we applaud any decision that frees organizations like UT and consumers to buy and sell products for which there is a demand. UT does have the responsibility, however, to conduct business in a lawful and wise manner. As with any on- or off-premise establishment, UT now has a duty to the community to sell and serve alcohol responsibly, specifically keeping alcohol out of the hands of minors and those who may be intoxicated.

To all the seller-servers at UT, you’re about to be given an awesome opportunity to put a lot of money in your pocket. As a result, you have a responsibility to be proactive in keeping alcohol out of the hands of minors and intoxicated people. The good news is, it’s not that hard. Just get your on-site or online TABC certification from TABC On The Fly!
