TABC Investigation after crash lawsuit

You may recall our previous post where we discussed the value of TABC certification at private events and parties … Parties like the one thrown for the cast of the show ‘Texas’, which resulted in five cast and crew members being killed in an alcohol-related car accident which is now being investigated by the TABC.

In response to a civil lawsuit being filed against him by the families of those who were killed, the party’s host has filed a response with the court and even provided a copy of the party invitation. You can see the response and invitation here. It’s a confusing and muddy situation because while the invitation clearly states the party was BYOB for attendees 21 and older and that everyone should have a designated driver, alcohol was obviously easy to obtain at the party for those under 21. The TABC is now investigating whether alcohol was made available to minors at the party.
