One way to stay out of the news is to not be on the wrong side of a TABC sting operation, and the best way to do that is to get your online TABC certification and follow the law. It’s not hard, people.

An undercover operation in Sulphur Springs, TX last weekend resulted in local law enforcement finding that 71 percent of the businesses tested sold alcohol to minors. There was nothing tricky or confusing about the operation: Local officers sent a minor into local stores to purchase alcohol, and did so successfully at five out of seven stores. One of the stores even sold alcohol to the minor twice in the same night. To make matters even worse for the store clerks, the minor wasn’t even using a fake ID … And the clerks never asked to see an ID at all. Selling alcohol to a minor is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail, two years on probation, a fine of up to $4,000, and of course having your mug plastered all over the local news.
So what should you learn from the fine folks in Sulphur Springs? Get your online TABC certification and take what you learn and put it into action.
