What TABC certification online won’t teach you
May 2, 2014
What’s something TABC certification online won’t teach you? To keep riffraff out of your restaurant or bar. Yes, how your customers behave both inside and outside your establishment can ruin your ability to make a living.
Case-in-point: Las Vegas Night Club in Wichita Falls, TX. The TABC notified the owners of its intent not to renew their liquor permit, and a county judge just upheld that decision. The case is now headed to a higher court.
This is reportedly all due to the bar being a haven for criminal activity. Now is that the bar’s fault? It’s impossible to know without having the details regarding crimes committed, but it highlights how important it is for managers, owners, and even servers and bartenders to be diligent in kicking people out or refusing service to customers who may be up to no good. If you do that enough times, these shady people will start to understand that your restaurant or bar probably isn’t the place for them. I bet your business will increase too, because the rest of the community will see your establishment as a clean, safe place to eat and drink.
A part of creating a clean, safe establishment is requiring everyone who sells, serves, dispenses, or delivers alcoholic beverages to be TABC certified. TABC certification online and on-site courses are available, and a current list of TABC approved schools can be found here.
TABC On The Fly is an official, state-approved provider of on-site and online TABC certification.
